Leatrice Mims' Obituary
Leatrice Mims Jr., was born July 9, 1965 in Conroe, Texas. He left this world December 7, 2010 at the age of 45. Leatrice found Christ, our Lord & Savoir at an early age. He attended Booker T. Washington Elementary school, and graduated from Conroe High School. He became a certified Para Educator for the Tacoma Public School District. He was a loyal employee at the Morning Sun for many years, and at the Tacoma Public School District until his passing.
He loved all sports, but expecially football. He was an assistant coach at Al Davies Boys and Girls Club for many years, and he coached kids of all ages. He loved the kids very much, and would do anything for them. He would buy football equipment for the children that could not afford it. The team had a great year in 2003 and as assistant coach to Coach Townsend, took his team to the National Football Tournament in Las Vegas. The team took first place, and were the champions of that tournament. Leatrice (Rex) was a giving person and was always willing to help his family and friends out.
Preceding him in death was his brother Darrel Frazier. Rex leaves to mourn: his mother, Rutha Mae Mims-Tevis of Conroe, Texas, and his second mother, Queen Easter Hill of New Waverly, Texas, his father Leatrice Mims Sr., of Conroe, Texas, one son, Leatrice Lamar Shepherd, one daughter, Tanajah Mims, and one grandson all of Tacoma, Washington; four sisters - Betty Poole of Tacoma, Washington, Lynnie M. Williams, of Cleveland, Texas, Rosa Lee Benson of Conroe, Texas, and Vivian Williams, of Conroe, Texas, six brothers - Joedan Mims of Houston, Texas, Manuel Gay of Conroe, Texas, Keda Mack of Houston, Texas, William Harris of Houston, Texas, Reginald Williams of Conroe, Texas, and Kenneth Williams and Libby Williams (sister) of Tacoma, Washington; two nieces - Arlisea Poole of Tacoma, Washington and Shawnkedra Mims of Conroe, Texas; three nephews - Wayne Poole Jr. of Tacoma, Washington, Isaiah Joedan Mims of Hayward, California, and Joedan Mims Jr. of Houston, Texas; special friends - Darryl Dixson, Wayne Townsend. Willie Colter, Deandra Standley, and a host of relatives and friends.
He will proceed his journey on to Conroe, Texas where he will be layed to rest at Rosewood.
