Lawrence James Young Sr.'s Obituary
LAWRENCE J YOUNG SR
Lawrence James Young Sr. passed away in his home in Lakewood, WA, on April 4th, at the age of 67. He was born in Tacoma, WA on September 7th 1946 to Lorenzo & Lorraine (Snyder) he attended Lincoln High School class of 65’. Larry joined the US Army with his uncle and best friend Robert Snyder on June 20th 1966 they completed basic at Fort Polk Louisiana. Larry served in Vietnam. Larry married Linda Babbitt Young in Tacoma, Washington in 1970. Larry & Linda had 3 children Evelynn Lynn, Larry Jr & Paul.
In 1974 Larry obtained an Electronics & Communication degree from Bates Technical College. Larry & Linda Young moved to Astoria, OR where Larry worked for Cox Cable. Larry was active in Bayview Baptist Church (Jeffers Garden) then helped to build the new church on Olney Ave where he was a Deacon & youth group Leader. Larry was active and had a passion for Lewis and Clark Fire Department and his community. He also was active and had a passion for Astoria JC’S and served with the Oregon National Guard, Camp Rilea 442D ENGINEER DETACHMENT.
In 1987 Larry & Linda moved back to Tacoma, WA they later divorced. Larry worked for Fort Lewis paint & HVAC shop then moved to Madigan Army Hospital HVAC shop. Larry retired in 2007. Larry was an active member of Parents Without Partners and past President of the Tacoma Chapter. Larry married Barbara Mastel/Swalling in 1994.

Larry is preceded in death by wife Barbara, 3 sisters Marion Miller, Lorrie Landgrebe, Darlene Davis and 1 brother Tim Young.

Grand Children,
Angela Young(Graham), Kyrie Devol, Zack Young, Bailey Graham, Joseph Young, Chrystie Ward, Elizabeth Young, Josh Ward, Alexander Young.
Plus numerous nieces and nephews and cousins
Services will be held on May 3rd at Mountain View Memorial Park at 11:30 am and Southside Baptist Church following the graveside services.
