Each time Rudy came home to Kansas, he and Ducky were memory makers. How he enjoyed teasing the kids, eating homemade soup (asking for it even in hot weather),
picking veggies and cantaloupe from our garden, sitting and talking for hours, going to the Monument HS reunion, visiting the veteran's memorial in Oakley where five Weigel brothers are honored for their service, and the never ending stories of "how it used to be."
One of our favorite times was our family taking he and Ducky to a local farm, walking behind the potato digger in the field picking up huge baking potatoes. At least the next two meals were baked potatoes with garden toppings. Many laughs were had that day.
When he could no longer travel, a visit to Tacoma with my son, Michael, is a treasured memory. In the years since then, our visits became almost weekly phone calls which sure will be missed. Our lives were blessed with Rudy sharing himself in so many thoughtful ways. May he rest in peace! May you, his family and friends, be at peace knowing the happiness he brought to so many.

Uncle Rudy was always a light in all of our lives...and was quite the conventionalist!!!! He was a great big brother to my mom and all of his siblings. I have such wonderful memories of him and Aunt Ducky. Loved her!!!! I pray for his eternal peace with God. 🙏🏻❤️
Our family is very saddened by the passing of Uncle Rudy. Many of his extended family members and friends (originating from Kansas) received great joy and happiness by being able to talk with him and see him via the internet at the Weigel family reunion in May of 2018. He was astoundingly lucid and alert! We are very disheartened that we were not able to share in his final services. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Cheryl Jo and Jerry and their family and friends.
