Lawrence Earnest Roberson's Obituary
Lawrence Earnest Roberson, age 88, lovingly known as Larry or Skeeter was born March 27, 1932 in Cedar Hill, Texas to Seth and Zelma Roberson. He passed away September 3, 2020 in Tacoma, Washington.
Lawrence graduated from Dunbar High School in Lubbock, Texas in 1951. Lawrence graduated from Huston-Tillotson University in 1956 (English major and Spanish minor.) Lawrence ran track and field in high school and college acquiring the nickname of “skeeter” because he demonstrated superior speed in track and field. He obtained a master’s degree in education at Texas Southern University 1966. He received his administrative credentials from (Phi Delta Kappa) Pacific Lutheran University.
Lawrence taught at Tyee Park and Beachwood Elementary and worked at the district office for ESL, Special Ed Curriculum. He was a principal at Parkway 7 years, and Lake Louise 6 years.
Lawrence was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the NAACP and Omega Psi Phi.
As we celebrate the life he lived, he leaves to loving and caring wife of 72 years, Norma Jean Roberson; one daughter Antoinette (Oliver) Jackson; sisters and a brother; Bernice (Herbert) Bailey, "Little Bit" Charlie Roberson and Myrtle, Betty and Nancy Roberson. Granddaughters, Jamila Jackson, Kamarah Junkin (Ryan) and Olivia (Stephen) Blackburn; nieces and nephews; Rhonda (Joe) Staton, Michael (Michelle) Bailey, and Barnard (Phyllis) Bailey.
Lawrence will forever leave a void in our hearts. He was our champion, a true warrior, our beacon of light at the end of a dark tunnel.
