Lawrence Guy Reed Sr.'s Obituary
After a short turbulent battle with cancer, Lawrence G. Reed Sr., died in his Spanaway home surrounded by his family May 28, 2015 at the age of 63. He leaves behind his beloved wife Lucena “Esther” Reed; his son, Lawrence Jr., daughters, Joanna “Lisa”, Veronica, Rosella and husband Alex, Tricia, grandchildren, Sharae Ratliff, Angelina Rosales, Makaila Ratliff, Alexis Figueroa and Keoni Reed.
Lawrence was born May 9, 1952 in Hamilton Air Force Base, California; he was the son of the late Alberta Teresa Wallace and Timothy Reed Jr., who survives. He was preceded in death by his baby sister, Monica Reed in 2013. The oldest of seven, following is Cynthia, Mark, Oma, Anna (Mike), and Johnathan; along with many cousins, friends and longtime co-workers.
Lawrence graduated from Rome Free Academy in Rome, New York, class of 1970. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Korea, Philippines, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, United Emirates, and traveling to other classified areas of the world. Lawrence returned home to Lucena and settled in Washington State where they raised their five children. They have been together for 42 years married for 39.
Following the military Lawrence became a para-educator, and Coach of Spanaway Lake High School. He had a passion for sports and was the biggest fan of his grandchildren and all of the students that he coached. His favorite teams were The Oakland Raiders and the Special Olympics team of Spanaway Lake High School.
