Lawrence A. (Larry) OttoLawrence Anton Otto, 82, passed away April 5, 2004 at his home in Eatonville, WA. Born to Elmer and Alpha Otto of Tacoma, he was raised in Tacoma, and lived in Tacoma, Puyallup and Eatonville over the course of his life. He joined the Navy during World War II, serving in the Pacific arena. He married May Madsen of Pawtucket, Rhode Island in November 1944. Following his naval service he returned to Tacoma with his wife and family and worked at the Imperial Market, a family owned business, where he was a 3rd generation meat cutter.Lawrence remained in the meat business until the late 1950Â's when he returned to school, earned a Drafting degree from Tacoma Technical College and began working for Puget Sound Power and Light. Continuing education led to his working as an Associate Electrical Distribution Engineer for PSPL until his retirement in 1982 after 24 years of service. Lawrence loved having a family and watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren come into the world, grow, and move off in their own directions. He loved being married to his wife of 59 years, May, and spoke of that marriage as the most important moment of his life. While he had many hobbies during his lifetime, his greatest passions were for cooking, playing the organ, golf, and woodworking.Lawrence was preceded in death by his mother and father, Elmer and Alpha Otto, his step-mother, Erma Serversen, daughter, Diane Betty Otto, and his sister, Betty Johnson. He is survived by his wife, May Otto; sisters, June (Bill) Tennyson, and Nancy Reitman; daughters, Kathy (Don) Holtan, and Kris (Darren) Zachary; grandchildren, Kye, Doug, Karen, Trevor, Leah, Drew, and Jenneka; and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, and Tavie.A memorial service will be held Monday, April 12, 2004 at 3pm in the Mt. View Valley Chapel, in Tacoma, WA. Family and friends are invited back to May Otto and Kris and Darren ZacharyÂ's home, 525 Antoine Ave., Eatonville, WA (360-832-6715) following the service.
