LaVonne D. Nelson's Obituary
LaVonne D. Nelson passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2006. LaVonne was born in Milnor, North Dakota on October 8, 1921. She met and married Clifford P. Nelson in 1940. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and raised a large family. Clifford and LaVonne moved to Tacoma in 1963. LaVonne retired to Renton in 1997 where she remained very active and enjoyed making many new friendships. She held a life-long passion for crochet; the many recipients of her gifts will treasure them forever.Her husband, Clifford, her parents Andrew and Nora Wastman, her sister, Nona, and her brothers, Arnie and Sherman, preceded LaVonne in death. She is survived by her 8 children: Allen (Marie) Nelson of Tacoma, Roger (Kay) of Fargo, ND, Dianne Mayhew of Peshastin, Jeanne (Rick) Schlosstein of Renton, Jeannette (Jim) Harrison of Graham, Ron (David Schnur) Nelson of Long Beach, CA, Becky (Keith) Schlosstein of Renton, David (Cindy) Nelson of Renton; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and her brothers Lowell Wastman of Foster City, CA and Windy Wastman of White Center.Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 17, 2006 in the Mountain View Garden Chapel in Lakewood, Washington. Memorials may be made in her name to the National Stroke Society (www.stroke.org).
