Laverna Mattie Couey (Cary) died peacefully September 19, 2018 with her daughter Linda by her side. Laverna was born with twin brother Lavern, on December 1, 1932 to Wilbur and Mattie (Stewart) Cary on a farm near Grant, Nebraska. Read Obituary
I met your Mom and her twin, Lavern, in 7th grade in Corvallis Or. Little did we know our lives would be forever entwined. She had a great family and a good life. Peaceful rest. Bethel Webb
Laverna was a special person! We have fond memories of Melvin and Laverna. Her love for the Lord and for people was so evident. Some of our memories were while we worked together at Albany Mennonite Church. Some were on the fruit farm. And also in their home, where we received warm welcomes. Just a few weeks ago we were thinking of her, and wondered out loud how she was doing. Though she will be missed we are confident that the Lord will reward her faithful service. I am sorry to read of Laverna's death. Each time I go out to their farm for peaches or blueberries, I think of them. They were good friends and I lost track of where they lived. I'd heard of Melvin's death and now they are together again. Know that your family is cared for as you mourn.

I am sincerely sorry for your loss. Death is something that a person should never have to go through. What gives me strength during times such as this I look st the Bible for encouragement. (John5:28,29) Jesus said that he will raise up those who ya e died. Knowing that I will see my loved one again gives me hope for the future and I hope it does the same for as well
Raymond and I were there the day Laverna and Melvin were married and I hope we will be able to attend her service too. The Cary cousins have given us many great memories.
