Laurie Ann Gravseth's Obituary
Laurie Ann (Doak) Gravseth, fifty-seven, of Puyallup, Washington, passed away unexpectedly at her home on December 27th, 2021.
Laurie was born on June 9, 1964, the third of six children of David Richard Doak and Gloria Jean (Craig) Doak. She grew up on a small family farm in rural Maine and told countless stories of her life, her distaste for the dreaded “mandatory” hour of gardening each day during the summer months, picking potatoes during the harvest season, and many other colorful tales of her childhood with her siblings.
Laurie was a graduate of Central Aroostook Community High School, Class of 1982 and maintained close friendships into her adulthood with several childhood and adolescent friends.
Laurie was an exceptional wife, mother, and grandmother who doted on her family and was happiest when surrounded by them. She lived an adventurous life having ventured to from Maine to Alaska, Alaska to Missouri, and finally Missouri to Washington where she met her husband and the love of her life. She and her husband Tim lived in Hawaii for several years then moved back to Washington where they worked hard and devoted themselves to create and grow a thriving business named Tahoma Glass where they spent their careers working side by side. In addition to helping her husband grow the business, she dedicated 20 years of her life working at GlassMan as an office manager. Her work ethic was that of a typical Northerner from Aroostook County – a hard working country gal. She and her husband raised a family and enjoyed spending time at their property near the mountains as well as traveling to Hawaii, Arizona, Germany, and Ireland.
Laurie had a few vices as we all do: Devil Dogs, Peanut butter M&Ms, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Butterfingers, and Haagen-Dazs Coffee Ice Cream – the latter a shared vice with her father and siblings. She and Tim also loved antique cars and found great joy in attending and participating in hot rod car shows as well as owning and enjoying their own hot rods.
The many memories that were created through the years will be cherished by her husband Tim, her two beautiful daughters Jacinta and Kaeli whom she loved with all her heart, her son Kevin, her grandson Jacoby, her siblings Jody, Chris, Trudi and Deean, many cousins, nieces and nephews and so many, many dear friends. Laurie will be forever missed and cherished in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in her memory to The TEARS Foundation at thetearsfoundation.org as this was near and dear to Laurie’s heart due to the loss of her beloved one month-old granddaughter Arianna. The TEARS Foundation seeks to compassionately lift a financial burden from families who have lost a child by providing funds to assist with the cost of burial or cremation services as well as offering parents comprehensive bereavement care in the form of grief support groups and peer companions.
