Laura Elvira Ruiz's Obituary
Laura Elvira Ruiz passed peacefully on to her next life on July 29, 2010. Laura was born in View, Idaho on June 8, 1918 to Vadal and Elvira Peterson. She grew up in Salt Lake City with many happy summers on her grandparents' farm in Huntsville, Utah. Laura had four brothers, Wando, Ray, Wood and Don. Don survives Laura. Laura attended the University of Utah and served in the Red Cross in India during World War II. There she met the love of her life, Louis Ruiz (Col. Ret.), whom she married in 1946. They raised three girls, Linda, Lisbeth and Lynne. Laura lived a long and happy life as an Army wife. She loved to bowl, golf, play bridge, and with Lou hosted terrific parties. Laura and Lou retired to Tacoma Washington in 1977. Lou preceded Laura in death and they are now together. Laura and Lou had four grandchildren, Kerry, Megan, Sofia and Amanda. In her last years Laura became the great grandmother of Amelia and Mathius Sedivec. Laura will be deeply missed by her loving family. She will be laid to rest in Tahoma National Cemetery on August 5, 2010 at 11:30 a.m.
