In 1966, I was dating a lovely girl named Kathy. She told me her parents wanted to meet me. This surely was an uncomfortable event and I was very nervous. As Kathy and I walked into the living room where her dad was setting, her brother leaped up from his chair, walked across the room with a big warm smile, held out his hand for a shake, and said “Hi, I am Larry. I am so glad to meet you.” Larry’s action put me at ease. This was typical Larry, always having a warm smile and a kind, pleasant, friendly, and easy way to make it a joy to be around him.
Kathy and I were married, making Larry my brother-in-law. However, I always thought of Larry as being my brother. I have very fond memories about all the many enjoyable times Larry and I spent together. There were family activities and grown-up activities. Often, the activities would include playing games. We were competitive but instead of being angry when we loss, we would be glad the other person won.
With Larry being such a wonderful person, he will be greatly missed by all that knew him. His passing makes me very sad. My love goes out to his family.
