His Last Watch
His battle with Parkinson’s being over, he was born in Tacoma, attended Fern Hill, Stewart and Lincoln High Schools. He joined the Navy on his 18th birthday and was proud to serve on a PT boat in the Pacific.
He loved gardening, landscaping and was a Master Florist, owning his own business for many years. He won many awards for his design work and helped decorate for President Reagan’s inauguration.
He was an honorary Life Member of F.T.D., honorary life member of Tacoma Elks #174, honorary life member of VFW #696. He was also a member of Tacoma Rotary #8, Eagles Club, past president of N.W. Florists Association, Lincoln Lions and administrator of Puget Sound Hospital. Also a member of many civic organizations and the Methodist Church.
He leaves behind his wife of 71 years, Shirley, son Bruce, Daughter Janelle, 3 grandchildren and special sister-in-law, Barbara McKee. Brother Bill (Jean) sister, Natalie (Jim) and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, brother David, sisters Shirley and Virginia. Thank you to St. Francis Hospital for their comfort care. Visitation Saturday, 2-7 p.m. and graveside service Sunday 1:00 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Park.
