Landis Jay Rohrer's Obituary
Landis Jay Rohrer went to be with his Lord on the evening of January 15, 2025, succumbing to liver cancer. He was born May 19, 1947 in Marysville, CA to Jay Harold & Ella Emma Rohrer, but grew up in Tacoma, WA from 7 months of age. He was preceded in death by his dad & mom and his beloved sister, Patricia Ann. Landis leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Donna R. Rohrer, as well as son, Robert Jay (Connie), of Arlington, TX; daughter, Robin Rene (Craig), of Pflugerville, TX; daughter, Lisa Michelle (Bharathi) of North Oaks, MN; and step daughter Sarah Louise of Cheney, WA. His grandchildren include Corbyn, Chase, Deven, Gage, Rebecca, Andrew, Oliver, Joren, and Anika, as well as great grandchildren Ashley, Jamie, and Daisy James. He loved his "puppy" Tessa.
Landis was proud to have served in the US Navy for 12 years, including one tour in Vietnam. He subsequently served an addition 13 years in the Army National Guard. After the military, and while in the military, he worked in the security field, as an officer, field supervisor, and site lead (including 14 years at Weyerhaeuser Vail Tree Farm), fully retiring in 2017, at age 70.
He was a founding member of Crossroads Community Covenant Church in Yelm, WA. He loved the Lord, had a heart for the youth, and enjoyed being an usher, among many things. He was a hugger and a welcoming presence. His last few days he expressed the desire to die at home, in peace, with his loved ones. God granted him the desires of his heart and Landis quietly slipped away with one hand on Tessa, one hand in Donna's, and Lisa & grandkids present.
His celebration of life will be held at Crossroads Community Covenant Church, 11520 Bald Hill Rd SE, Yelm, WA, on Saturday, 15 March 2025, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, Landis expressed a preference that donations be made to Crossroads C.C.C.
