Kris Orlando Durr's Obituary
Loving husband, devoted father, record setting athlete, dedicated coach, and steadfast friend. Kris Orlando Durr was all these things and so much more to the people whose lives he touched.
Born on April 21, 1964, and passing away on December 6, 2023, Kris was cherished for his signature energy, motivational prowess, and groan-inducing dad jokes.
A lifelong athlete, he earned a track scholarship to Washington State University and his record for the freshman outdoor 400m race still stands after nearly 40 years. In 1984, Kris ran in the Olympic Trials and later in international competitions in Ivory Coast, Sweden, and Finland. His enthusiasm for the sport was surpassed only by his passion for spending time with his family and friends.
Professionally, Kris' charm and ability to forge genuine connections with people gave rise to a successful career in sales. Notably, he achieved recognition by winning a top sales associate award during his tenure at Samsung- a testament to his dedication and excellence in the field.
Kris is survived by Laurie Durr, his wife of 30 years; children Tanya Biscomb (Phoenix), Kris Durr Jr. (Katrina), Deontay Durr, and Kava Durr; parents Ponce Durr, Mary Paige, Eva Durr, and the late George Paige; siblings Alfranda Durr (Robin), Ponce Durr Jr. (Cassandra), Michele Grant (Allen), and Marlo Paige (bonus sister); many beloved family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
