Kirk S. Miller's Obituary
Kirk Stephen Miller, 56, passed away on February 2, 2025, in Tacoma, Washington. Born on June 22, 1968, in Yakima, Washington, Kirk lived a life full of adventure, meaningful work, and love for his family and friends. His passing was sudden, which creates a unique kind of grief for all who love him.
Kirk spent most of his career as a general contractor, outfitting spaces to better suit the needs of his clients. His work took him across Washington state and throughout the U.S., where he honed his craft and built lasting relationships. Known for his big heart and honorable work ethic, Kirk busied himself with new projects and challenges; From refinishing bathrooms with ornate tile work to building decks or adapting spaces for accessibility, Kirk’s hands were always at work helping others. He also had a gift for sharing his knowledge with anyone eager to learn his trade and he was generous with the time he spent showing new contractors the ropes.
Kirk embraced life with enthusiasm and a tireless sense of adventure. He loved taking motorcycle rides to Coeur d'Alene, fishing with his son, nephews, and grandson, breaking out his shameless dance moves at family gatherings, and making the spiciest (and most delicious) homemade salsas. Kirk found happiness in the simple pleasures of life and his laugh was big and infectious.
His faith, kindness, and generosity were evident in the way he cared for others and the subtle ways he shared about his relationship with God; He was quick to lend a hand—shoveling walkways in winter, offering an ear to someone in need, fixing broken things without being asked —and he had a special way of making everyone feel valued.
“Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
Kirk is survived by his mother, Darlene Butler of Spokane; Daughter, Amber Schultheis (Jason; Grandson, Miles) of Lake Stevens; Son, Justin Miller of Spokane; Brother, Darrin Miller (Cindy) of Spokane; Sisters, Connie Anderson (Ken) of Puyallup, Kim Castro (Mel) of Yakima and Tammy Rivera (Luis) of Spokane; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Orville Allen Miller; and brothers Randy, Chris, and David Miller.
A celebration of life will be held at 12pm on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Life Center Church in Spokane followed by a light lunch reception.
