Kikue Mercier's Obituary
Kikue Mercier, 93, of Lakewood, WA, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026. Born on November 2,1932 to Yoshi and Aiji Makino, Kikue worked in the clerical field for many years and was a devout practitioner of Soka Gakkai Buddhism. She is survived by her children, Michael Mercier of Lakewood, WA, Naomi Mercier of Kent, WA and Gina (John) Harada of Federal Way, WA; her siblings, Toyoko Makino, Masakazu Makino, Sadao Makino, all from Japan and her grandchildren, Daniel and Christopher of Seattle, WA as well as several nieces and nephews in Japan and the United States. Preceded in death by husband Arthur; her sister, Fumie, and her parents. A private memorial service will be held on February 16 at Mountain View Memorial Park. A Celebration Of Life will be occurring later in the Spring.
Kikue will be remembered as a strong, independent woman who was much loved and instilled hope and courage to many. Her kindness and warmth were gifts she shared with all who knew her.
