Kevin James Kampfer's Obituary
Kevin James Kampfer, 57, of Gig Harbor, passed away unexpectedly, January 18th, 2014. Born December 4th, 1956 in Oklahoma City, OK to James & Mary Kampfer. After spending his first few years in Oklahoma, Kevin's family moved to Spokane, WA, before finally settling in University Place, where he spent his adolescent years. He attended Curtis High School, where at the age of 16 he met the love of his life, Dawn Hreha. Kevin & Dawn married on August 9th, 1980. In 1987 they built their home in Gig Harbor & have resided there ever since. Kevin spent the last 25+ years working for Pacific Air Systems. He always had a zest for adventure & through the years that included: racing sailboats, scuba diving, getting his private pilots license, spending time with family & friends on his boat exploring the Puget Sound & riding his beloved motorcycles. In addition to his own special cats, he had a huge heart for animals. If there was a stray he came in contact with, you can guarantee they ended up well fed.
Although, we as his family are left heartbroken by his untimely passing, we find peace in knowing that he was doing something he truly loved; riding his motorcycle on a beautiful day through his favorite country roads of Gig Harbor.
Kevin is survived by his best friend & wife of 33 years, Dawn Kampfer. Mother in law, Valerie Hreha. Aunt, Cora Oanna (John). Sister, Sherrie Haisley (Roger). Brother in law, John Hreha. Nieces, Maile Foss (Nick) & Heather Ryan (Rob). Nephews, Evan Hreha & Eric Haisley(Staci). Great Nephews, Jackson & Dylan Foss, Adam, Alex & Arik Ryan. Great Niece, Anna Ryan.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 29th, 2014 at 2:00pm in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Memorial Park. Reception immediately following in the Oak Room. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral.
