Kenyatta Deshawn Cooper, remembered for his kind heart, unwavering compassion, and determined spirit, passed away on April 24th, 2025, in Lacey, Washington.
Born on May 1st, 1997, to Stephen Cooper and April Hayes in Tacoma, Washington, Kenyatta dedicated his life to serving others with humility and grace. His journey of service began on August 28th, 2017, when he started his military career, eventually earning the rank of Specialist at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. He was awarded National Defense medal, Army good conduct medal, The global war on terrorism service medal, and an army service ribbon. An Army Veteran who loved his family deeply, Kenyatta's gentle compassion touched the lives of many.
Beyond his service, he cherished moments spending time with his son, online gaming, watching anime, enjoying music, break dancing, and outdoor activities. His intelligence and confidence were matched only by his kindness, leaving an everlasting mark on those fortunate enough to know him.
Kenyatta is proceeded in death by his Great grandmother Betty L. Wright, Sister Danielle Hinnant, Aunt Rebecca Montgomery, Aunt Loretta Ryan, and Uncle Willie B. Montgomery.
Kenyatta is survived by his son Apollo Cooper, Sibling's Desiree and Ponce Hinnant, Jermaine Cooper, Stephen Cooper Jr, Kimonti Cooper, and Kamiya Cooper. Grandparents Cynthia Hayes, and Teresa Montgomery and Aunts, uncles, and several cousins , nieces and nephews.
Kenyatta's legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to inspire and comfort those he left behind. His memory lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
