Kent Michael Starr's Obituary
Kent Michael Starr was born in Albany, Oregon on August 22, 1960 and passed away on April 19 in Tacoma, WA. He was the son of Leonard “Bud” Starr and Carol Starr. Kent graduated from Tabb High School, Yorktown, VA and studied at Pierce College. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Mark.
Kent’s hobbies were growing house plants, listening to 70’s and 80’s music, sketching and painting with acrylics. Although suffering from mental illness which was complicated by leukemia in his final years, he never complained and never stopped painting. He left a legacy of nearly 300 finished canvases.
Kent is survived by: mother Carol , Lakewood, WA; brother Rob (Connie), Incline Village, NV; sister Jane (Robert) and nephews Kevin, Michael and Jacob , Lakewood, WA; aunt Lou Gering, Sun City West, AZ and uncle Virgil Hemphill (Jenine), El Paso, TX.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 on June 9 at Little Church on the Prairie, 6310 Motor Ave SW, Lakewood, WA. Memorials may be sent to Greater Lakes Mental Healthcare, 9330 59th Ave SW, Lakewood, WA 98499 or to their website at www.glmhc.org.
