Kenneth Williams' Obituary
Kenneth Williams (Red) was born on May 21, 1957 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Bernice Keys. He was raised in Chicago, Illinois in which he later moved to Conroe, Texas and attended Conroe High School. He met and married Libby Ann Williams in 1975. He later joined the United States Army and was honored to be a Vietnam Veteran. He was stationed in Fulda, Germany from 1975 to 1978 as a Special Ops. He returned to the United States in 1978 and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington.
Upon his return to Washington in 1978, he attended the University of Puget Sound majoring in Business Administration. He loved business and expressing ideas and helping others reach their potential in those areas.
Kenny became a proud father in 1980 when Kenneth Williams II was born and again, in 1985 when Kerry Williams was born. He was a loving father who was inspired to teach his sons everything he knew about being a man. He was a loving husband who always shared good things about his wife with others.
He returned to Texas, and became one of the youngest Post Commanders in the United States of a VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) between 1982-1987. He also worked as a Journeyman Electrician for Gulf States Utilities in Conroe, Texas.
In 1987, Kenny returned to Tacoma, Washington where he was a pillar in the community. He established himself as a role model to the young men by opening up a consulting firm named KLK2 Consulting and also a trucking company in which he drove back and forth across the country. He was very active in the community. Whether it was coaching football for Al Davies Boys and Girls club, mentoring young men or coaching basketball for Chief Leschi MS, he strived to impact people with his wisdom and experience. Kenny had the gift of connecting with people of all ages and all walks of life.
Kenny was a very spiritual person and in 2013 he rededicated his life to Christ and joined the Tacoma Christian Center. He later joined Altheimer Memorial Church of God in Christ where he further expanded his relationship with God.Kenny transitioned from earth to eternity on Monday, January 4, 2016. His mother, Bernice Keys, preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 40 years, Libby Ann Williams; two sons – Kenneth II (Rasheeda Williams) and Kerry (Santana Cheaney); Four grandchildren – Elijah, Kasey, Kayla and Jaiden; two brothers – Kevin (Elizabeth) and Edward Scott Gambrell (Benita); sister-in-law – Alma White (Willie); two aunts – Mattie Keys-Ratliff and Barbara Jean Keys; a host of nieces, nephews, God-children, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral Service 11:30 Saturday, January 23 in the Valley Chapel at Mountain View, followed by a repast in the Willow Room in the Mountain View Celebration of Life center.
