Kenneth Marshall's Obituary
Kenneth Marshall 4-14-1916 - 09-18-2008 Passed away peacefully to join his wife Dorothy Marshall. Born in Burra Oak, Kansas. He went to high school in Spearfish, S.D., where he helped his aunt on her farm. He graduated in 1937. Then joined C.C.C. He served at Camp Narrows, Blue Bell, where he helped build log cabins. Also helped fall pine trees to build a saw mill to cut lumber for Custer State Park. Injured and sent to Fort Meade Army Post. He got acquainted with a dentist. He was interested and joined the dental team. He served as a dental assistant at every CCC camp in the south half of South Dakota. He met Dorothy Wadsworth at a dance in Lead. They fell in love and married 7-20-1939. From there they went to Idaho and then Hood River, Oregon. He worked in the fruit orchard and got a job falling and bucking trees. They bought a house on 17 acres of fruit trees. After an injury his doctors told him to get a different kind of job. They moved to Kelso for a year and then moved to Tacoma in 1953. He began working as a longshoreman. He was a member of ILWU Local #23 for 25 years. They bought there house in 1954, where they both still lived until this spring. Survivors are his sister Farris Scott in Calif., and 4 children: Roger & Eileen Marshall of Puyallup, Kenneth C. & Ruth Marshall of Graham, Keith Marshall of Spanaway & Mary McConnell of Tacoma. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Mt. View Funeral Home in the Garden Chapel at 11:00am on Sept. 20, 2008
