Kenneth P. Hughes' Obituary
Kenneth Paul Hughes
Kenneth P. Hughes, born in Mercer, Pennsylvania, on May 14, 1930, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2018, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Tona. Kenny served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1948, where he was stationed at Los Alamos, NM and then Ft. Lewis, WA. After leaving the Army, he worked at the Mt. Rainier Ordnance Depot (Ft. Lewis Logistics Center) until retiring in 1985.
Kenny joined the Ft. Lewis Rod & Gun Club in the 1950’s, now known as the Northwest Adventure Center. He joined the Freemasons in 1975; in 1976 he was accepted into the York Rite and in 1978 he joined the Afifi Shrine, where he was known as a “Master of all trades” and official "Mixologist", among many other things. Kenny and his wife Joyce enjoyed road trips to Reno, NV and Soldotna, AK. They also enjoyed volunteering and attending functions for the Afifi Shrine Temple.
Fishing was his very favorite pastime and first love. One of his favorite destinations was elk hunting camp in Rimrock, along the Tieton River, with his best friend, Glenn Henderson. He loved dogs and was kind to children. He always appreciated a cold beer or a stiff drink. He was fun-loving and always had time to offer a helping hand.
Please help us celebrate Kenny’s life on Saturday, September 29th at 1:00 P.M. at the Tacoma Scottish Rite, 817 S. Vassault St.; Tacoma, 98465.
