Kenneth F. Medley's Obituary
Kenneth Freed Medley died peacefully at home in the company of Elnora, his wife of 68 years, on June 13, 2008. Ken was born near Bushnell, Nebraska on May 17, 1918 to George Thomas and Sally Jane (Freed)EMedley. Kenneth and Elnora M. (Jacobs) were married March 1, 1940 in Harrisburg, NE, residing in Bushnell, NE where Jim and Gary were born. Ken was drafted into the Army in October 1944 and served in the Philippines during the Pacific Campaign during which he was seriously wounded. He received the Purple Heart, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, World War II Victory medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Ken returned home on Valentines Day 1946. After returning home, he suffered from the effects of Malaria and Hepatitis C for years. Kenneth, Elnora and family moved to Kimberly, ID in 1946. During the time in Idaho, Stephen was born. In August 1950, the family moved to Lakewood, WA, where they remain to this day. Kenneth retired from Federal service after 25 years. Ken was preceded in death by his mother and father, 7 siblings and 3 granddaughters, Tawnie, Shelly and Sue. Ken is survived by his wife Elnora, sons James K (Loretta), Gary K (Maryjo) and Stephen W, all residing in the immediate area, brother Martin L Medley of SeaTac, WA, 10 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Viewing will be held from 1-9pm Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Mountain View Funeral Home. Services will be held in the Aspen Chapel at Mountain View Cemetery on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. In honor of Ken's life and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lake City Community Church in Lakewood, WA.
