Kenneth Thomas Elmore's Obituary
Kenny was born May 6th 1927 in Yakima WA to Thomas and Mary Elmore. He passed away peacefully on August 19th, 2017 in Puyallup at Paragon AFH.
Kenny was the second born in a family of seven boys and 2 girls. His family moved from Yakima to Tacoma when he was 14 years old. He entered the Army in 1954 and served 1 ½ years in Germany, in what was called the War of Occupation. In 1958 he married Dolores Pitz who had four children at that time, 2 sons Jim and Jerry and 2 daughters Jill and George. Together they had two daughters, Susan (1961) and Jo Ann (1962). Kenny divorced and later married his second wife Wanda DeBow in 1972.
In 1986 they bought 10 acres of land covered in trees and shrubs in Rainier. Kenny had a shop built and from there he cleared the land, added several farm buildings and referred to this area as “the farm". At one time he owned 8 cows and a horse named Sally. Kenny loved the farm life and would often refer to himself as an old cowboy. He spoke often of the family farm that was once located in Yakima.
Kenny was a very talented Cabinet Maker, builder and mechanic. He had many talents and hobbies including the restoration of a Model A Ford. He enjoyed inventing new things to assist with the work on the farm and helping others as they needed. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Meeting new friends as he traveled in his job and recreation.
He was proceeded in death by his first wife Dolores, second wife Wanda. Parents Thomas and Mary. His brothers Robert, Richard, his sister Maxine and daughter Susan.
Kenny is survived by his daughter Jo Ann Munce, husband Marty, Grandchildren: Nicholas and Stephanie. Stepdaughter, Pamela Bryant, husband Davy. Grandchildren: Julie and Jason.
Stepsons Bill DeBow, Grandchildren Casey and Cara and Lowell DeBow. Along with several Great Grandchildren. Brothers, Ronald (Pat), Chuck, Bill, Jerry (Emily) and sister Shirley (Ron) Pietz.
A memorial will be held at 12920 Vickery Ave E, Tacoma on Saturday, September 2nd at 3. In Liu of flowers, please send donations in Kens name to the Dementia Society of America at https://www.dementiasociety.org/donate
