Kenneth Bruemmer's Obituary
Carter Bruemmer
Kenneth Carter Bruemmer was born Sept. 5, 1953 to Kenneth and Marie (Ebson) Bruemmer and left us on Aug. 14, 2014.
Carter cherished growing up in Browns Point, which he fondly referred to as “the right side of the bay” and where he lived for most of his life. He graduated from Stadium High School and then started a career in the auto parts industry, working for 20 years as the manager at South Side Brake & Clutch in South Tacoma.
Carter was heavily involved in his beloved Browns Point community with activities such as the Cliff House Willie’s Adult Fishing Derby, the Kids Fishing Derby, and the Browns Point Salmon Bake. With Commencement Bay as his back yard, he loved fishing, boating, beachcombing, bird watching, nature, and tracking the ships and boats as they traveled in and out of the Port of Tacoma. He also enjoyed being a handyman and working on cars, and he doted on the dogs he had throughout his life.
Those who knew Carter will remember his kind heart, generous nature, devotion to his family and friends, appreciation for the smaller things in life, and sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Tina (Manley); daughter Hayley; son Ken and daughter-in-law Krisa; sister-in-law Dianna Pasco (Bob); and brother-in-law Pete Manley (Kathie).
A special thank you to Matthew and Shade Akinlosotu, owners of the Esther Adult Family Home, for the warm and professional care they and their staff provided to Carter in his final years with us.
A private memorial was held Aug. 20. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Carter’s name may be made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound at 3875 S 66th St, Tacoma, WA 98409.
