Kenn Carlos Bailey's Obituary
Kenn Carlos Bailey, age 71, passed away on July 17, 2023, in Tacoma, WA. He was born on January 4, 1952, in Philadelphia, PA.
Kenn is survived by his sons, Kenn Bailey (spouse: Tiffany Bailey) and Eric Bailey (spouse: Jamie Bailey) and their mother Rose Bailey. While his road of life included many complexities, he always found his core foundation in family. He was a brother to Juanita Keys, Shirley Butler, and Derrick Bailey. Kenn was a grandfather to Jordan Wendell, Jarem Bailey, Kai Bailey, and Jasmine Bailey. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Frances Bailey, father, Joshua Bailey, and brother, Thomas Bailey.
As a teenager, Kenn moved to Tacoma, Washington, with his brother Thomas, setting the stage for the life he would lead. He excelled academically and professionally, graduating from the executive training program and embarking on a successful career with IBM. After his time at IBM, he became an integral member of the Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse at the Washington Department of Social and Health Services. Kenn's dedication and contributions to the field were significant, as he co-authored several programs that are still in use today.
Outside of his professional achievements, Kenn also loved playing Madden football on every gaming system since the Sega Genesis, finding joy in the triumph over his friends and family members. Additionally, he was an avid basketball fan, and he held out hope for the NBA's return to Seattle to join his favorite WNBA team, The Seattle Storm.
Kenn had a deep passion for movies, especially western films. He cherished the art of storytelling and found great enjoyment in watching classic westerns that portrayed the spirit of the Wild West. In his leisure time, he would often immerse himself in the world of cinematic adventures, finding solace and inspiration in the characters and tales unfolding on the screen. The last images he saw were Danny Glover, Kevin Kline, and Kevin Costner in the 1985 movie Silverado.
A memorial service to celebrate Kenn's life will be held in the fall, allowing friends and family to come together and share fond memories of this remarkable man.
