Kendall Alan Thompson
Kendall Alan Thompson was born in Livermore, California on September 8, 1969 to Margaret Thompson-Miyamoto. He passed away September 23, 2013 in Tacoma, Washington. Kendall was a member of the Warm Springs Confederated Tribes. Margo and Kendall moved to Oregon when his Mother began working at Ka-Née-Ta Vacation Resort on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation when he was four years old. After Ka-Née-Ta they moved to Salem, Oregon where his Mom worked for Chemawa Indian school.
He attended Lowell Elementary School, Jason Lee Junior High and Stadium High School in Tacoma, Washington. While at Stadium High School he played trumpet in the band and won a gold metal. He also played tennis and football and learned photography. He graduated from Stadium High School in 1987.
He attended Vogue modeling school where he modeled at Seattle for Nordstroms. He took scuba diving lessons in Puget Sound and became a certified diver. He went scuba diving, fishing and boating on Puget Sound with his step dad, Joe. He also obtained his Private pilots license and proudly flew his parents to Ocean Shores for lunch.
After high school he trained as a Disc Jockey eventually becoming a manager and co-owner of Cheers West. He attended casino gaming school at Seattle and got his license as a dealer. He worked at Mavericks, Chips and Snoqualmie Casinos.
He loved to hike in the mountains and along the Tacoma waterfront. One of his favorite pastimes was hiking at Mt. Rainier and Point Defiance park.
His parents always had contact with him and seeing him during the summer and Christmas holiday. On his last vacation he was excited to go out on his parent's boat.
He is survived by his Mother, Margaret Thompson-Miyamoto, Step Father Joe Miyamoto, and many aunts and uncles and cousins in California, Oregon and Washington.
He had made many close and valued friends here in Tacoma, Washington.
We fondly remember his funny faces in the family pictures. We will always remember the warm and caring person that he was. He will always hold a place in our hearts as a very special son.
