Kellie Jeanne Schumacher's Obituary
A Life of Love, Creativity, and Care
On April 4, 2025, the world grew a little dimmer as we said goodbye to Kellie Jeanne Schumacher, a beloved soul whose light touched everyone lucky enough to know her. Born in Tacoma, Washington, on August 20, 1962, Kellie was the youngest of five children and the cherished daughter of Howard (Mac) McCall and Lois McCall. She spent her early years nurturing bonds with her siblings and developing a deep appreciation for the importance of family—a value that would guide her throughout her life.
Kellie’s journey was defined by her innate ability to care for others. From her days at Lincoln High School to her studies in social and human services at Tacoma Community College, she always sought ways to uplift her community. Her career at the Pt. Defiance Zoo Society and later Lutheran Community Services NW reflected her passion for building connections and supporting those in need. And while her professional accomplishments were many, her greatest joy was found in the role she cherished most—being a mother and grandmother.
In June 2023, with characteristic zest and determination, Kellie traded the coastal charm of Tacoma for the welcoming warmth of St. Augusta, Minnesota. It was here that she embraced her role as "Grandma Kellie," pouring her heart into the care of her newborn grandson, Jackson David Gerads. Together, they shared a year of laughter, love, and discovery—a testament to the strength of their bond.
Kellie’s creative spirit blossomed in her hobbies. Whether she was crafting intricate pottery, tending to her flourishing vegetable garden, or nurturing her houseplants, her artistry was a reflection of her vibrant personality. As the guardian of treasured family heirlooms, Kellie embodied the spirit of preservation and memory, ensuring that pieces of the past remained alive for future generations.
Her love was boundless, her laughter infectious, and her heart immeasurable. Kellie is survived by her devoted husband, E. Allyn Schumacher, her loving daughter Courtney Gerads (Justin), and her adored grandson Jackson Gerads. Her siblings Sherryl Martinez, Pamela Hart-Newman (James), and Scott McCall, along with countless nieces, nephews, and extended family, will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
She joins her parents, Howard (Mac) and Lois McCall, her brother Kim McCall, and her grandmother Jeannette (Stevens) Scott in the embrace of eternity.
Kellie will be remembered as the glue that held her family together, the artist whose creations brightened our world, and the unwavering caregiver whose love knew no limits. Her memory will continue to inspire us to live with kindness, courage, and creativity.
May the echoes of her laughter remind us that love, much like her legacy, endures forever.
