Keiko Hartso's Obituary
KEIKO SUGIMOTO HARTSO
Born 09/21/24
Called to Heaven 03/23/14 Mom grew up in Osaka, Japan, her father a railroad chief, her mother a homemaker with 7 kids. Mom met Herb Hartso Sr. in Kobe, Japan, January 1948. They married and moved to the USA in 1957, sailing on the USS General Mitchell for 2 weeks at sea. Settled in Tacoma all her life. Employed at Western State Hospital as a dietician, retired in 1989. Mom was a master seamstress and knitting machine, creating many hats, blankets and slippers for friends and family over the years. She also had a green thumb she used well! In both her vegetable and Japanese gardens, there wasn’t a plant, flower or veggie she couldn’t grow. Her Japanese cooking was wonderful. Our mom was an honest, smart, adorable lady who loved to laugh and smile. She set a steady example to live by with your head up and a clear focus on your own responsibilities. Mom will be smiling on us forever and we will meet again. We love you mom. Rest now. See you soon. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, Herb Hartso Sr., and daughter in law Dawn Hartso. Survived by three children, all of Tacoma, Aiko (Chuck), Herb Jr. and Reg (Diane), grandchildren Andy (Cassie), Nichole (Mike), Sam, Herbie III, Tahni and great-grandchildren Alexis, Madeline, Herbie IV, Jacqueline and Drew. She is also survived by one brother and numerous family members in Japan. Memorial services will be held at the Mt. View Aspen Chapel, Saturday, March 29th, 1PM.
