Kazuko Williams' Obituary
Kazuko Tasaka Williams Oct. 28, 1938 - Dec. 20, 2011 Surrounded and loved by her family, Kazuko Tasaka Williams, 73, passed away on December 20, 2011, peacefully at her home in Steilacoom, WA. Born in Fukuoka-Shi, Japan, Kazuko was the 3rd of 6 children, raised up following World War II. At age 17, in 1955, she would meet Amman Williams, a member of the U.S. Army, in her hometown. They would marry in Tokyo, Japan on April 28, 1958, and shortly after, move to Brooklyn, New York. In Aug. 1961 Kazuko became a citizen of the U.S, but from there, the U.S. Army would take them all over the world: Italy, Germany, Japan, and many parts of the continental U.S. She often said she traveled too much and did not want any more traveling. In 1980, after 27 years of military service in the U.S. Army, Amman and Kazuko retired and settled, with their family of 3 children, near the military base Ft. Lewis, WA. We give thanks to God for her most precious love and life. She will be remembered honorably, a "one of a kind" mother, sweet grandmother, and a loyal wife. She had a uniquely sassy sense of humor, and will be deeply and warmly missed. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Amman Williams, her daughter Tammi (Toru) Garofalo, daughter Loujanna (Jeffrey) Rohrer, son Amman (LaToya) Williams, six grandchildren who adored her dearly, Isabelle, Emmy, Luke, Raquel, Braylon and Kannon, and close sister in Norway, Yoshiko (John) Boe and her family. She also leaves behind two brothers residing in Japan, Keichiro Tasaka and Kojiro Tasaka, in addition to special friends locally. She was preceded in death by her father Tomie Nagao, mother Sukeo Tasaka, brother Junichiro Tasaka, another brother, Tasaburo Tasaka, and her beloved dog and best friend, Chi Chi. We are so thankful for the brilliant program of Hospice, as their care team extended services and provided comfort to Kazuko through her emphysema and lung cancer. Her wishes were always to pass away, peacefully, in her sleep, in her castle (home). A memorial service, a sweet remembrance of Kazuko, will be held at 11am, Sat., Feb. 4, 2012, at Oberlin Congregational Church in Steilacoom, WA. Interment services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home in the Valley Rose Urn Garden at a private family ceremony.
Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
