I first met Kathy as a new nurse after graduating nursing school--her kindness to me at that time was greatly appreciated--she was always ready to teach or share her knowledge--although we have not worked at the same facility for years lessons taught to me by her on showing kindness and compassion to those who are sick and their family stayed with me all my career--She will be missed greatly--I am sorry for your loss for no one could be prepared to loose someone as precious as her. Ma Barton was truly one of thee most beautiful women I've ever met. Her external beauty was obvious and that beauty was only surpassed by her beauty from within. Her hands healed, her voice comforted, her heart - huge and giving, her silly songs, her laughter and her sense of humor made hearts smile. She was a friend to many, a mother to most, and a blessing to us all. She was, and still is, the true meaning of selfless. I am so proud and so honored to call her Mom and feel, as we all do, that we were incredibly lucky to have her in our lives for the time we did. The only solace we have with her passing is knowing that she's at peace, and that she can do what she does best, and that is to protect and care for us from afar until we meet again. Even though, she isn't with us in the physical sense; her presence will forever be felt.

This one's for you Ma......Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy. A kid will eat ivy, wouldn't you?

Wow, I can't even tell you all how very sorry I am. Kathy was an amazing, sweet, wonderful, person. There are so many times she was there for me and I know she knows how grateful I am for all of her wonderful advise. I know how blessed I am for having known her. I will always remember when my dad was in the hospital in 06, she somehow figured it out and came up and prayed over him. It was so special to him and I. That was the kind of thing she did. Kathy has been a sister that I never had by birth. Our hearts were united by the love of Christ as we surrendered our lives to His Lordship. Kathy was a gift when I began working at St. Joseph's in 1982. The warmth of her smile, her dry humor that was always present and the depth of her compassion in caring for patients and being the greatest team member another nurse could hope for were treasures in my career. Her commitment to Christ was the source of the glow that emminated from her presence. Her family was her joy. Humble, serving, prayerful and faithful were her qualities. She was always available to help move someone, bring a food dish if you were sick or help paint. A tuna sandwich and tea shared with heartfelt conversation and prayer will be treasured in my heart for ever. I am grateful to know we will be together for eternity. I first met Kathy when I started working on the dialysis unit at St Joseph Hospital over 20 years ago. I will remember Kathy as caring in all her relationships with patients and co-workers. Dear Kathy, Your ready smile,kindness, graciousness and compassion will always be remembered by me. You were always ready with a smile and encouraging words.I remember a Christmas in 1973 when you invited me to share Christmas with your family. It was a wonderful Christmas for me ,especially since I was separated from my family at the time. I remember you telling me that "It won't last for ever" and it didn't. By the following Christmas it was all good.
You have been a friend to me for over Forty Years and I will miss you terribly.
You have left a big hole in all of our hearts , but I DO KNOW that I will see you again!

Words cannot express my deepest sorrow and the loss I feel for my second mom Kathy! My heart aches, but I start to feel better just thinking about our time together at the end! Leave it to Ma Barton to make ME feel better when she was the sick one! I'll always remember her soft voice, perfect skin and her subtle sense of humor! (I dont think she realized how funny she was!)
