Kathryn C. White-Stewart's Obituary
Kathryn Clara Tucker White Stewart was born on December 4, 1924 in Onalaska, Washington to John William Tucker and Esther Bertha Tucker. She passed away on October 14, 2008. Kathryn attended Winlock High School, and after graduation she began her first job at JC Penney's in Tacoma. She met her first husband Keith White at the USO in Tacoma, and they were married in 1946. Her beloved son, Douglas Richard White, was born in 1951. Kathryn greatly enjoyed her friends and family. Some of her favorite activities were camping, boating, bowling, playing cards, dancing at the Elks Club, and adding to her numerous coin collections. Her son was an accomplished musician and she loved watching his piano performances. Kathryn worked at the Port of Tacoma for over 30 years. She was known as a very organized, efficient office supervisor. After her first husband Keith and her son Douglas passed away in the mid-1990s, Kathryn moved to Gig Harbor to care for her mother. In 1999 she met Roger Stewart through mutual friends. They were married in their home in Fircrest in January 2004. They spent their years together with family and friends, and especially enjoyed long Sunday drives in the Cadillac throughout Washington. They attended Fircrest United Methodist Church. Kathryn was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother, and her son. She is survived by her husband, Roger Stewart, stepchildren Sharon Armstrong, Beckie Stewart, Tom Stewart, Rodney Stewart, and step-grandchildren Jeffrey Stewart, Brian Stewart, Kathleen Horrigan, Holly Stewart, Sarah Armstrong, Hilary Armstrong, and Laura Horrigan, brother Bill Tucker and sister-in-law Marsha Tucker, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 11:00am.
