Kathleen M. Washburn's candle burned its brightest from December 7th, 1947 to January 11th 2014... She was a nurse of 40+ years, following in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother. Born to Carlton and Ella Washburn into a military family, she was extremely well traveled, but established deep roots in Tacoma Washington, where she spent majority of her life. An avid lover of classic cars and big band swing music, she could always be counted on for a smile, a joke, and generally lightening the mood in a room, no matter how dim it seemed. She couldn't help but make a positive impact on whomever she came in contact with and is the undisputed backbone, heart and soul of this family. Always the optimist, she is the person to turn to in your deepest, darkest hour for a helping hand up and out; in summation an ANGEL in every sense of the word. She is now, much like during her time here with us, in charge of watching over her family from above. She stands guard over 3 siblings; Steven, Sue and Joann-- her own 4 children; Joey, Shawn, Kim and Jason --10 "Nanny Babies"; Demetrias, Erica, Lindsey, Louis, Kenneth, Alexander, Caitlyn, Paishance, Janna and Jayce—4 great grandchildren; Yazmine, Joshaua (preceded in death), Nevaeh and Kingston- as well as many other friends and extended family too numerous to count. Words will never begin to fully express what she means to the ones she loves and who love her. Her story ,albeit cut short, packs a message that will resonate for all of eternity and live on in the hearts of everyone who was a part of it: FAMILY FIRST!! She is physically gone, but will never be forgotten, nor will her memory ever fade, for she is the guiding light for our family during dark times. Just look up and listen for the sound of her speeding by in her 1957 red Corvette with the top down. ;) WE ALL LOVE AND MISS YOU DEARLY NANNY, KEEP WATCH OVER US AND KEEP US ON THE RIGHT PATH AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE YOU PROUD...UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN, REST IN PARADISE
