The dearest friend ever. Kathie touched my life with the happiness she displayed, her love of family, the Lakewood First Lion's club. I loved her sense of humor and the strength she had until the end. She was sweet and kind. She loved her community and gave many hours as a mentor, advisor, and role model.
We enjoyed so many fun lunches and dinners with laughs and a good glass of chardonnay.
I will miss her every day and some day we can drink a glass in the heavens. Kathie was a treasure and true friend.

I first met Kathie when my girlfriend and I were first exploring my new home purchase in Steilacoom. We were making a first, exploratory visit to the Top Side. When we got inside, there was no place to sit. Eric and Kathie were at we later found out was their "regular" TGIF table at the place, and they invited us to join them.

Kathie was wonderfully warm and engaging. As perfect strangers, we immediately felt welcome. It was largely because of that, that I decided to join LFL. As time went on, Kathie always had that same presence that made me feel very comfortable, no matter the circumstance. Then, she introduced me to her cat friend Buddy, who also felt so welcome that he made Eric's and Kathie's abode his own home more than where his assigned residence had been. Cats really know good people, and he knew Kathie was the real thing!

I met Kathie in 1988 when I applied for a Vice President position at then McChord Credit Union. She was very gracious to me and became a long time friend and colleague over the years that she worked for what became Harborstone Credit Union. I always enjoyed Kathie's endless energy and positive outlook on life. Kathie was a loyal friend and was always supportive of my work at the Credit Union.

I will always treasure my memories of working with Kathie, her friendship, and the wonderful example she set for so many people in the business world.

Kathie was one of a kind!

Although I’d known Kathie for many years, I really got to know her after her diagnosis. Over lunch or coffee we learned we’d had a number of things in common, such as places we’d both lived, or areas we’d traveled. I learned about her love and experiences sailing.

Kathie was the most positive person I’ve ever met. Although she had no sense of taste, she still loved going out for a meal. She compensated by ordering colorful food with different textures. When I’d ask her how she was doing on a particular day, she’d bring the conversation back to George or me, asking how we were.

She loved relaxing with a glass or two of wine, and we will toast her memory every night. What a true pleasure it was to have known Kathie. We’ll miss her sweet smile and thoughtful demeanor.
