Kathie Leigh Burks' Obituary
Kathie Leigh Burks, 69, passed away on April 13, 2023 in Tacoma, WA. She was born on November 13, 1953 to Luther Howard and Dorothy Violet Burks in Birmingham, Alabama.
Kathie worked in secretarial positions for the Washington State Department of Childrens Services and was well liked and regarded by her co-works. Her main joy in life were her family; daughters Anna and Faye, and her beautiful granddaughter Jordan Leigh. Two of her interests were gardening and reading. Kathie was known for her hospitality and lovely gardens of both vegetables and flowers.
Kathie has always been described by family and friends as a sweet, kind, gentle and compassionate person. She will be greatly missed but always loved and remembered by her family and friends.
Kathie is survived by her daughters, Anna Leigh Nielsen, Faye Marie Nielsen-Eckhardt, and her granddaughter, Jordan Leigh Firth, all of Tacoma, WA. Also by her sisters, Sandra Berti (Larry) of Acme, WA and Ramona McKittrick (Boyd) of Sun City West, Arizona. Also, by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kathie was preceded in death by her sister, Bonnie Diane Burks of Venice, Florida.
The family has asked that no flowers or other memorial items be purchased for them at this time. They will be having a private gathering in Kathie's honor in the near future.
