Katheryn Mavoreen Kinkade's Obituary
Katheryn (Katey) M. Kinkade
Katey, 86, passed away on January 10, 2009 in Marysville Wa. Mom was born, July 29, 1922 in Astoria, Oregon. She grew up in Astoria and graduated from Astoria High School in 1940. In 1966 Mom married Keith Kinkade and joined him in his Tacoma business, Fox Jewelry. They were quite a team for nearly twenty years. Mom loved nothing more that being outdoors, especially with family and friends. Whether it was playing in the sand as a child with her brothers and sisters at Cannon Beach, digging razor clams at Moclips or just sitting at the waters edge at her "cabin" on Day Island watching the sunset over the Olympic Mountains. She loved salmon fishing - from Ilwaco to Ketchikan. We can still hear her yelling "Fish On!" Mom was in her prime outdoors. Mom also loved to entertain, with Christmas Eve and the Fourth of July being her favorites. Everyone was sure to have a good time and no one had a better time at the party than Mom. Katey was preceded in death by her brothers Bruce, Jim & Woody and sisters Helen & Althea and in 1986 her husband Keith. Mom is survived by her two sons: Patrick McAllister of Arlington WA & Kelley McAllister of Pasadena MD: two daughter-in-laws, Michele McAllister & Shirl McAllister: five grandchildren, Woody, Kristen, Michael, Michele Jr. & Jeremy. Nephews: Doug Kelley of Denver, Jim Kelley of Seattle and nieces Sherri Harpham of Anacortes and Kathy Moist of Virginia. Services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood on Saturday January 17th @ 10:00am in the Garden Chapel. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to Hospice of Snohomish Co. www.providence.org/phh .
