Katherine Hunter Packard's Obituary
Age 60, passed away on June 22, 2007 after a long period of declining health. Katherine (Kathy) was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on May 24, 1947 to Jewell (Sutton) and Rev. Hogan Hunter. When a child, she accompanied her parents to Eritrea where her father served as an army chaplain. Kathy graduated from Louisiana College and Southwestern Theological Seminary with degrees in piano and voice, and church music. She was a certified EMT and had also studied architectural drafting at Lake Washington Vocational School, graduating in the top 5% of her class. On June 20, 1992, she married Stephen Packard. She served with her husband as Minister of Music and Mission Service Corps Missionary for ten years at Chinese Southern Baptist Church, Seattle, and at Nine Lakes Baptist Church, Federal Way. A talented artist and musician, she enjoyed playing the piano and singing with her husband and at church services. From her keen interest in the natural world, she designed her garden of Northwest native plants. Her father and her brother Bill preceded her in death. Surviving are her husband, mother, two brothers, James (Carol), and David (Debbie), sister-in-law Marcia, stepdaughters Sara (Aaron) Jones and Ashley Packard, two grandsons and five nieces and nephews.
