Katherine "Katie" Deibert Bartell
Katie went home to be with her heavenly Father early on December 21, 2008. She was born on February 24, 1916 to Benedict and Catherine Deibert in Devils Lake, North Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Joseph Bartell After leaving North Dakota, Katie lived her entire life in Tacoma. During World War II she was a "Rosie the Riveter" and helped build the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga. She also worked for many years for Tacoma City Light. She is survived by her daughter Katherine Terhune of Solana Beach, California, her grandson David Terhune of San Diego, California and granddaughter Michelle Ericson of Lake Oswego, Oregon and three great grandchildren, Delaney, Jonathon and Sean. She is also survived by her sisters Monica Michelson and Rose Gallagher and brothers Peter, George, Ed, Joe, Larry and Phil Deibert as well as her good friend of many years Beverly Amburgy and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11 AM on December 27th in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home, in Lakewood. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Franciscan Hospice, 2901 Bridgeport Way West, University Place, WA 98446
