I have so many memories of her warm heart. she helped many people throughout her time. I remember camping with her and I wouldn't behave so she would tell me to put my nose in the corner [ a little hole in the trailer wall where i put my nose when i was in trouble] she said to my mother that day i was going to be as stubborn as her. although I was little I remember a lot of great memories. I remember her chasing me down the hallways trying to change my diaper, or my first tricycle that still sits in the back yard. although watching her dust the people off that were in need was heart warming to most who saw her. I remember she let her love shine and did her good works and glorified her father in heaven where some family members awaited to see her as they too will stay in our families hearts and we will never forge. we love them and miss them.
Although we only met Karen once, when she and Richard visited our home in Hagerstown, Md., she left us with warm memories of a loving person and soul-mate for Richard. We will keep Karen and Richard in our prayers. Larry and GeorgeAnn
When I met Karen we were both in P.W.P. Our children were all about the same age all teenagers or pre-teens. When we knew each other my name was Barbara L Brown. Now I am Barbara L Bartholomew a member of the Tacoma Elks. I remarried moved to the Murphy, Idaho area which is near Nampa & Boise. We then moved to the Newport, Oregon area. I divorced in 2002 & retired in 2010 and moved back to Tacoma. I have been searching to reconnect with Karen but to no avail. It was quite a shock to see that she was the wife of our photographer at the Elks. I didn't know she was remarried so there was no way to connect the dots.
One of the things I remember is that she was my real estate agent when I sold my house.
Another time she with all her kids and me with all my kids were at a park, which I believe was Jefferson, when one or more of my kids tackled Russell and he ended up with a broken leg. My children are 56 on down to 50 so that ages our lack of communication and life in general to about 40 years.
I'm sorry for your loss.

Richard's message to the VMI Class of 1964 regarding the passing of his beloved Karen was a magnificent tribute to what must have been a wonderful life, lived for others. RIP God bless the Beatty family and friends. Paula and George Warren, VMI Class of 1964.

Karen was a wonderful woman who helped those who needed it. I was one of those many people. She took me in and gave me the support and stability I needed to get me where I am today. She was like a grandma to me, and I loved her as such. She will be missed by many people. Love you Grandma Karen. See you in heaven!
