Karen L. Bowen's Obituary
Karen Lee Bowen, cherished wife, accomplished professional, and vibrant spirit, passed away peacefully at her home in Auburn, Washington, on May 11, 2026, after a courageous and valiant health battle. She was 72 years old.
Karen was born on July 15, 1953, in Tacoma, Washington, to Elmer and Carol Hart. She grew up in the South Puget Sound area and graduated from Mt. Tahoma High School, where her bright personality and determination first began to shine.
Karen built an impressive career in the banking industry at a young age, quickly distinguishing herself through hard work, intelligence, and drive. In her early twenties, she became one of the youngest individuals at Puget Sound Bank to achieve the position of banking officer—an accomplishment that reflected both her talent and ambition. She later co-owned a successful consulting business, where she provided expert guidance to banks navigating federal compliance requirements, leaving a lasting impact on the field she loved.
Karen was known for her lively, spunky nature and her joy-filled approach to life. A “cute blonde” with a radiant smile, she embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and heart. She found great joy in playing golf—a pastime that led her to meet the love of her life, David Bowen, at a golf tournament. Their connection quickly blossomed into a lifelong partnership filled with love, adventure, and shared passions.
Karen and David spent many happy years together, traveling the world and creating memories that spanned continents. They explored many destinations including the Mediterranean, Europe, and the British Isles. Together they shared a love of the outdoors, enjoying running in their earlier years and many seasons of downhill skiing together.
Karen also had a deep appreciation for the arts. She enjoyed attending live theater performances and found particular delight in the music of Andrea Bocelli.
Above all, Karen will be remembered for her vibrant personality, her warmth, and her unwavering zest for life. She lived fully, loved deeply, and left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved husband, David Bowen; her brother, Ron Hart and his wife, Mike Richardson; and by many friends and extended family who will miss her dearly.
