Born in Pateros, Philippines on February 4, 1947, Alan's life was one of unyielding dedication & an unbreakable bond with his family and country.
In 1968, Alan began a distinguished career in the United States Army. After retiring, Alan spent his free time as a woodworker, fisherman, and crafter. Alan enjoyed countless hours fishing at Millersylvania State Park. He was lovingly known as, “Al, the Legend of the Lake”. He was always happy to share his fishing secrets with those that struggled to catch their limit. In addition to the many beautiful pieces of furniture he constructed, he made custom Filipino parols and wooden piggy banks using old mailbox locks. He was excited to give them away to family & friends. His strong hands and talents left an enduring mark on those who benefited from his kindness.
In his later years, he dedicated his time and efforts to supporting the Filipino Veterans Recognition and Education Project. He organized WWII Filipino Vets and participated in several award ceremonies where he, along with others from the Filipino community, proudly presented Filipino veterans or their family members with their bronze Congressional Medals.
