I have spent the past week trying to get my thoughts together. Justine was my sister! More than my sorority sister, but my sister born of the bond we formed living here in Tacoma away from our biological families. I remember the Delta conventions we traveled to sharing a room with our other sisters to cut down on expenses. We use to play pinochle every weekend. The gang (Mary & Joe,Florence & Frank, Murray & I, along with Justine and Jim). When we first start 40 years ago we would play until the wee hours of the night. When we became more senior, it was all we could do to make it to midnight. We owned timeshares. When one bought a time share the rest of us soon followed even to the point of buying one together. We cruised together, seeing different ports of call and buying all the touristy junk. Justin and I even belonged to the same church for 40 years. She campaigned with me when I was running for VP of WEA. And when my mom died, Justine took charge and guided me through the whole process. My heart is full and I miss my friend.

My condolences to the family of my dear Soror, Justine. Getting through the loss of a loved one takes time and the journey can seem more than you can bear. Remember the wonderful times spent with her. Tired and weary, she travelled the last mile, as always, with grace. She can rest and claim her everlasting reward as a doorkeeper in our Father’s house. Bonded forever.
