June R. Starkey's Obituary
June Rose Starkey, beloved wife and mother, was born on June 21, 1924 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and passed away peacefully on March 10, 2016 in Federal Way, Washington. June was a devoted wife of sixty-three years to her husband, Warren, and a loving mother to her three daughters, Lee (Charles) Hunt, Ann (Bruce) Vanderwall and Janet Bender (William), as well as an involved grandmother to Andrew (Angela), Cameron, Hayley, Christian, Patrick, Blair and Lauren. She was quite adventurous in her youth taking long bike trips across the state, and later in life traveling extensively, including trips to Europe and China. June graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor degree in Home Economics, followed by a Master of Library Science. June moved to the Northwest where she met her husband, Warren. She chose to stay home to raise her daughters, and was active in her church and community. June enjoyed her time as a Master Gardener, as well as playing bridge, reading and creating heirloom quality counted cross stitch. June leaves behind a legacy of kindness and grace in the hearts of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Elizabeth Jensen, as well as her seven sisters and brothers, including her identical twin sister, Jane.
Contributions in June's memory can be made to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund (19030 8th Ave S SeaTac, WA 98148), or to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
A private family celebration of June's life will be held on April 1, 2016, at the Tahoma National Cemetery, as her husband, Warren, is a veteran of World War II.
