June Adella McGregor's Obituary
June Adella McGregor passed away peacefully on May 27, 2018 just twenty days before her 101st birthday. June was born in Litchfield, MN on June 16, 1917; the first of five children born to Axel T. Lee and Gertrude A. Lee (Olson). She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Litchfield High School. In 1937 June moved to Tacoma, WA and worked at Frisbee’s Bakery and other retail positions. In Tacoma June met and married Ernest J. McGregor, her husband of 58 years, and three children, James, Jay and Janet were born to the couple.
June was a very energetic and a dedicated mother and housewife. She dearly loved children, particularly her own and was always intimately involved in their lives. Her love, care and wisdom will be greatly missed. In addition to these duties, she worked a number of part-time jobs such as representing Avon Products for 25 years, working at the Puyallup Fair Fisher Scone booth for many years and providing child care for several working mothers.
June absolutely loved to dance. In fact, she first met husband Ernie at a dance at the old Crescent Ballroom in Tacoma. Later they became charter members of the “Hix n’ Chix” square dance club and were also members of the “Swinging Squares”. June especially enjoyed travel. In addition to trips to Panama Canal, Norway, Hawaii, Mexico, and Alaska, she loved camping with friends and family in the family camp trailer and later spending time at their Offutt Lake retreat.
June is survived by her loving children James (Caren) McGregor, Jay (Beth) McGregor and Janet (Dean) Gerou and many beloved nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband Ernie (d. 2005) and her treasured grandchildren Jeffrey McGregor (d. 2005) and Jason McGregor (d. 2013). June was also preceded by her siblings Dale Lee, Irene Crow, Joan Sivanich and Fern Rhoden.
