June G. Knutsen's Obituary
June passed away after a short and courageous battle with cancer.She married Lawrence O. Knutsen May 4, 1937 in Ketchikan, AK. Her early years in Alaska were spent caring for foster children. Larry and June eventually moved to Tacoma, WA, where she continued to open her home to foster children.She had a talent and love for cooking, baking, beading, gardening, crafts, and making you smile. Preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Jean Geer in 1991; granddaughter, Leah Danielle McKnight in 1988; and her husband in 1995.Survived by her son, George (Jeanne) Knutsen of Pleasant Hill, CA; daughters Debby Meers (Richard Abhold) of Yakima, WA, and Julie Ann McKnight of Tacoma, WA; three grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 30, 2005 at South Lakeshore Christian Church, 1740 S. 84th Street, Tacoma, WA.A special thank you to the staffs of Internal Medicine Northwest, St. JosephÂ's Medical Center, Cottesmore of Life Center, St. Clare Hospital, Franciscan Hospice, and Mountain View Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Franciscan Hospice, 2901 Bridgeport Way West, University Place, WA 98466.
