Murphy, Julianna Susan's Obituary
Julianna (Julie) Susan Murphy 81, of Spanaway, WA passed away on July 18, 2025 in Puyallup, WA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, August 05, 2025 at Mountain View Funeral Home with Deacon Michael Teskey officiating. The burial will follow at 12:30PM.
Julie was born in Utica, NY to Mary E. Clarey and Vincent D. Murphy on October 1, 1943. She attended Catholic school along with her sister, and best friend, Mary Della. At fourteen, Julie and her family experienced a significant loss with the passing of her father. This loss only brought Julie, Mary Della, and their mother closer together. Julie, along with her mother, had a passion and flair for fashion and all things beauty and eventually graduated from a trade school with a focus in cosmetology.
On July 28, 1962, she married Glenn A. Kroft. While their marriage was not eternal, they welcomed four beautiful children: Faye Anne, Colleen, Glenn Vincent, and Mary Ellen. Throughout her lifetime, Julie served in a variety of positions including cosmetology, sales, housekeeping, and as a seamstress.
Julie’s true passion was in the arts. She loved to color, draw, knit, and paint. She enjoyed cooking and baking – the latter being her family’s favorite of the two. Julie loved to share her creativity and spread kindness through her art and passion. Her unique paintings and knitted creations were favorite gifts of hers to give. She also leveraged her cosmetology background with her neighbors, whom she often offered free haircuts to keep them stylish and uplifted.
Julie was a complex and compassionate mother, grandmother, and friend. Her kindness and creativity continue forward within her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nephews. She is survived by her children: Colleen (Tom), Mary Ellen (Carl); grandchildren: Calisandra Renae, Jessica (James), Thomas, Ivy (Richard), Luke, Kateri, Katrina, Mary, Carly; and nephews: George, Kevin, Douglas, and Thomas.
Julie was preceded in death by her children Faye Anne and Glenn Vincent, ex-husband Glenn, sister Mary Della, brother-in -law Glenn, and grandson Christopher.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks to Stephanie Snyder with Pulse Heart Institute; Blair Campbell MD with Community Healthcare; and ARC Adult Family Home – Caroline, Albert, and Kevin, and Catholic Community Services – for their dedicated compassion and care for Julie.
