Julia Ann Cameron's Obituary
Julia Ann Cameron, 79, of Lakewood, Washington, passed away on July 29th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and a hot pink Christmas tree.
Born on October 13, 1944, in Electra, Texas, Julie was the daughter of Charles Perry and Martha Valerie Sheldon. Her father’s role as a pilot in the United States Air Force took the family to many places, but Julie’s favorite memories were from the Philippines where she learned from her housekeeper Rose that you can eat anything with rice and that you can have baby elephants as pets (although her parents refused that particular request).
Julie graduated from Clover Park High School and attended college before returning to work for the Clover Park School District as a "teacher of children". While attending church she met Tom Cameron and decided that she wanted to hold his hand for the rest of eternity.
Julie and Tom were married at the Cardston Alberta Canada Temple on September 3rd, 1968, in the wee hours of the morning. They spent 42 happy years trying to figure out if it was before or after midnight.
Julie was known for her kindness, generosity, and quiet acts of service. Within her family, she was cherished for her humor, sassy nature, and her quiet irreverence.
After losing her husband in June of 2010, Julie knew she needed a little cheer in her life. The thought of a traditional Christmas tree was too much to bear, so she decided to go for something fun instead. She found the brightest, most dazzling pink Christmas tree imaginable and decorated it with sparkling white ornaments and twinkling white lights. The result was so bright and bold that it made everyone squint and smile, including Julie, who couldn't stop laughing at how it practically glowed.
Julie was a devoted mother who aspired to be a best friend to her five children and succeeded in creating a close, personal relationship with each of them. Julie enjoyed planting pansies on her porch, playing Animal Crossing with her grandchildren (she even built her own island), reading, shopping at Barnes and Noble, watching true crime documentaries while doing cross stitch or coloring books, eating Costco cake, and having quiet conversations with those around her.
Julie is now reunited with her husband, Thomas J. Cameron; her parents, Charles Perry and Martha Valerie Sheldon; her older sister, Cheryl Leslie; her niece, Brandilyn Sheldon; her sister-in-law, Linda Williams; and her granddaughter, Brooke Cameron. She is survived by her sister, Sue (Blair), as well as her children: Thomas A. (Melanie), Suzanne, Rachel (Walter), Jeanette (Chris), and Charles. Julie also leaves behind a loving legacy of grandchildren: Thomas K., Andrew, Morgan, Summer, Trent, Jenna, Brianna, Nathan, Eric, Emily, Ryan, Whitney, Christopher, and Jared.
A service to honor Julie’s life will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home on August 15th, 2024 at 3:30 P.M. In her memory, the family requests that you perform a thoughtful act of kindness.
