Jule Irene Alfultis' Obituary
Jule was born on March 7, 1920, in Boise, Idaho and passed away on September 26, 2010, at the age of 90. She was the first-born child of Robert Earl and Thelma Faye Grant and the first grandchild of Julia Parkinson and Robert A. Grant who were early settlers of the Idaho Territory. While growing up, she enjoyed horseback riding and camping with her family in the Owyu Mountains. Jule met her future husband Robert Michael Alfultis at a dance in Oriana, Idaho, where her was serving as a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. They were married in Murphy by her father. Their marriage lasted for fifty-nine years until Bob's death in 2000. Bob and Jule moved to Fort Lewis in 1941, when he began his career in Civil Service. In 1949, the family moved to Lakewood where they resided until 1997, when Bob and Jule moved to The Narrow's Glen. Jule was an extraordinary homemaker. She enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables and raising her family. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, many craft projects, collecting coins and puttering in her kitchen. Music and dancing were always a big part of the Grant's family and Jule enjoyed dancing with her sister on her 90th birthday. In 1970 she and Bob served as Worthy Matron and Patron of Lewis Chapter OES in Lakewood. For many years they enjoyed traveling with their Chapter friends. Jule was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her mother and father and brother Jack, and her beloved step-mother, Ruth. She will be remembered by her brothers Bob and Fred Grant and her sister Earldean of Boise, her daughters, Shirlee Schatz (Clark Jonson) and Susan Stettler (Wayne), her grand daughters, Shawn Munsey (Jim), Tina Ridge (Ted), Shannon Hall (Scott), and Erin Larson (Chad), her great grandchildren Brian and Jeff Munsey, Jessica McDonald, Lila and Loren Ridge and Natalee Larson. Services will be held in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home on Saturday, October 2, at 2:00pm. The family wishes to thank the staff at the University Place Hospice House for their care.
