Judith Ann Thompson (Martin)
9/3/1940 - 1/24/2010
Judy was born in Tacoma on September 3, 1940 and lost her long and courageous battle with breast cancer on January 24, 2010. She was adopted by her parents Frank and Marguerite Martin when she was about one month old. She was preceded in death by both parents and at age 15 she was then raised by her cousin Virginia, and her husband John Hartford. She became "big sister" to Susie and Jimmy Hartford. After graduating from Stadium High School in 1958, Judy took a month long tour of Europe. She was married to Ronald Thompson from 1960-1999. Judy worked for the Tacoma Police/Pierce County Sheriff (LESA) for 31 years before retiring as Records Supervisor in 2006.
Judy is survived by daughters Vicki (John) Talen and Michelle (Marty) Wittman, grandchildren Josh and Seth Talen, Hayley (Steve) Howat, Kylie and Olivia Wittman, sister Sue Hoffman, brother Jim Hartford and cousin Virginia Hartford. Thank you to Dr. Frank Senecal for the years of caring. Also thanks to the staff at Franciscan Hospice House, you are all greatly appreciated.
Judy asked that no funeral service be held but please join family and friends for an open house, in celebration of her life on Sunday, January 31st 2:00-5:00 pm at Hiddenwood West Clubhouse. 7117 40th St W. University Place In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Franciscan Hospice House or to the Humane Society of Pierce County.
