Dear Judy, it seems to be a habit in my life to remember to say "thank you" when it's just a little too late. Once again, I am too late, but I want to thank you and your family for taking me in when I had no other place to go. I enjoyed my time with your family, even though it was much too short. When I close my eyes I can still hear your laughter. I look forward to the day we meet again. Thank you for being "mom" to me and sharing your family with me. My aunt Judy was a wonderful woman and I will always cherish my time with her. I think of the life she lead and the person she was and I am honored to have known her. You could always count on Aunt Judy to be there for your special occassions and be proud of your achievements. I was honored to have both Judy and Ottis at my wedding in 2003. I knew Judy would be there, but knowing how much my uncle Ottis hates attending wedding's I truly felt privelaged to have him there. I'll always remember how happy my aunt Judy was when I was born. She reminded me over the years of her anticipation at the hospital and her excitement when I arrived. I always looked forward to the day I would have a child of my own and I could wrap my baby in one of her wonderful blankets. Unfortunately I will not have the opportunity to share that

Today,
It was a privilege to be part of the beautiful service at Mountain View Chapel, in remembrance of a very special lady, Judy Ragland!
The love shown and felt there by all her family and friends, just epitomized Judy. She gave of herself generously and willingly.
Thankyou, dear Judy, for being a wonderful Sister-in-Law to our son, Brian and for the love and support you always showed towards him.
We will miss you and always remember you with a special fondness.
You are now safe in the arms of Jesus.

Judy was one of my very first friends here in Tacoma. Our children grew up together and she was always there when I needed a good friend to talk to or lean on. We shared crafts and recipes. We sat and drank our Saturday morning coffee together and smoked our cigarettes and just talked about life. She had such an infectious laugh and joyfulness about her. She was always so full of inspiration and I learned a lot about life from her. She had such a good heart. She always seemed to be centered and had a gentleness about her. Thank you Judy for all the wonderful memories you have left us through your life here on earth. Today, I attended the celebration of Judy's life and realized how she not only touched me and my families lives, but so many others. When the Lord decided to take Judy home, he added a Breautiful Rose to his Garden. She deserves to enjoy her Dance in Heaven !

Judy taught me a lot about acceptance, forgiveness and loving others. I can honestly say I never heard her say a bad word about anybody. Her family was so important to her and she loved everybody, and though her relationships with her brothers and sisters were not always what she had wished for, she always loved them all and yearned for deeper relationships with them. Judy and Ottis helped my family financially when our son Nick had cancer and we didn't have money to pay our rent.They couldn't afford to do it but they did it anyway, that's just the kind of people they were. Pam was right, they did have the least and gave the most. I will never forget their faces when they got off the plane in London, they were so happy to see us and us to see them. We had a great time together and these are memories that I will always treasure. I will also miss laughing and joking with Judy..... Especially teasing her about PAYDAY!!!!! You are gone now to be with our Lord but you will NEVER be forgotten.

When Wayne and I first moved to Tacoma from California in 1952 we lived with Gramma and Papa and this little 8 year old girl named Judith Ann. She was so outgoing and personable. She never lost that quality. When she was in 3rd grade she came down with the mumps. I spent the next 2 weeks on daily trips to Mary Lyon Elementary school to pick up her work. We would sit and do her homework including math, which was not her favorite subject. Family meant an awful lot to her. If it was graduation parties, birthday parties, Christmas parties or Labor Day parties she was always there sharing her laughter. When Uncle Wayne and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversay she helped our daughter Debby with it. She even baked and decorated the cake in my kitchen that day. I will never forget Mother's Day weekend in 2005. My 3 daughters were home together. Judy came for dinner that Saturday night. We played UNO attack - a game she loved to play. She kept saying, "I have to go home." She must have said that a dozen times from about 11pm until the game ended at 4AM with a bunch of laughter and fun.
I've always had a fondness for Judy in my heart.
To my nieces and nephews: I'm sorry that Uncle Wayne and I were not there today for you, but my thoughts were there with you all.

Lola and I have been friends of the family for over forty years and Judy and Ottis have been an extention of our family the whole time.
Lola and Ottis knew each other in school in Sandpoint and we met Judy and Ottis when shopping at Gov Mart in Tacoma. Lola had spotted Martha (Ottis's mom) and call out to her--Mrs. Ragland, Mrs. Ragland and Judy was with her and turned around and started to wonder who this person was that was calling out to her that she didn't know. One thing lead to another and we became an extended family from that point on.
Whenever any thing was planned or something happened Judy always became part of it. We are part of all Judy's children and have become one way or another involved in all their happy moments as well as the sad ones.
Our children and Judy's children played together and got into trouble together on many occasions. Our children still talk the times they had together.
Thanks for all the memories Judy and you will remain in our hearts until the day comes when we meet in the big sky above.
To the children of Judy and Ottis you all can be assured we will continue to be part of your family as long as you wish and you can call upon us at any time.
Judy we love you and Ottis and it has really been a pleasure to be part of your lives. You have gave us so many memories of what life is really about.
We say God Bless you both until we meet again.

When I was very small our backyard met with the Raglands. Ottis worked with my dad,Judy was my second mom, darlene and Kim were our sisters since I was Darlene's age and Kim Laura's age. We thrived on being at there house every chance we could get. The atmosphere was so comfortable and Judy always had a project we could be involved in. She let us cook our own breakfast. We helped make her signature cakes,paint on pillowcases. Anyway I could go on forever on how she impacted my life. She always had time to be a part of our lives,and we were just the neighbor girls. The best memory I have of Aunt Judy takes me back to first grade at Mann Elementary. I used to barter my lunch for more cookies and take them out to the playground for a snack since she was our recesss lady. Aunt Judy was always smiling, laughing, and was so loving. I used to frequently stay at Aunt Judy and Uncle Otis' house where I would usually become homesick but Aunt Judy always had a way of making me feel better.
Before Madison was born, Aunt Judy made her a yellow blanket. She was so particular about it being perfect, that when she saw a loose piece of yarn, she had to fix it right then and there. Madison will grow up knowing that her great Aunt Judy made it for her. Aunt Judy, we love you and will miss you.
